2016 Nissan Titan Review

Nissan is looking to blur the line between the half-ton and the 3/4 ton truck with this, the Titan XD. but  an it really offer the confidence of a heavy duty with the comfort of a half-ton. that's what we're going to try to find out.

so here we are in the new Titan X now. the big deal with this truck is it has a new 5 liter v8 diesel Cummins engine. that makes 310 horsepower and 555 pound-feet of torque. now there's no information yet on the gas engines, but Nissan has confirmed that there will be a v8 of course but there will also be a new v6 in the Titan. but what's interesting about the XD is that it's not just the diesel that sets it apart. it actually gets a bigger beefier frame, bigger brakes, and bigger axles because this truck is all about towing.

Nissan has spent some time back here on the business end of the truck. installing some features that are supposed to make life a little bit easier. they have the adjustable tie-down cleats up here on the side of the bed. they also have adjustable cleats on the floor of the bed which should make tying down ATVs or dirt bikes a lot easier.

for working at night there's a ton of LED lights now in the Titans bed. Nissan still has that damped tailgate which is a nice feature and a 120 volt plug in the bed. so if you're back here working with tools you can plug them in one other cool feature Nissan has designed for this truck is called the Titan box and it's actually in bed storage. but the really neat thing is that they are removable. so if you want the space back in the bed you take them out of there and you once again have your full bed to work with. so besides the new engine and drivetrain the entire interior in this truck has been redone and really Nissan has brought it up to speed with everything else that's on the market. the quality of the interior seems pretty nice button placement is okay the ergonomics are okay but it definitely is competitive with everything else that's out there right now in the half-ton segment.

one really smart move Nissan made is putting this column shifter in the truck because it frees up a lot of space down here in your center console which has plenty of storage and it just feels great one area with the interior I feel like Nissan could have pushed a little further on is with their luxury truck because those mega dollar trucks are getting really nice these days and the Titan is just okay. the back seat of this truck has also been really well done. now first of all there's a lockable storage container underneath the seat which is really great for storing all kinds of stuff but more importantly Nissan has engineered a flat load floor. now it's not actually flat there is a little transmission tunnel there but it has these small platforms essentially which fold out creating a flat floor. however those little plastic platforms they might break you could get caught on them loading stuff in. so it's not the best solution. so let's actually talk about what this truck is like to drive now.
